2½ cups shredded cooked chicken
1 cup barbecue sauce
⅓ cup ranch dressing or 2 tbsp ranch seasoning
½ cup sour cream or cream cheese
1 small onion, diced (optional)
2 cloves garlic, minced (optional)
1½ cups shredded cheddar cheese, divided
1 (28 oz) bag frozen tater tots
Chopped green onions or parsley for garnish (optional)
Preheat oven to 400°F.
If using, sauté onion and garlic in a greased oven-safe skillet for 3–4 minutes.
Stir in chicken, BBQ sauce, ranch, and sour cream or cream cheese. Heat through.
Add 1 cup shredded cheese and stir until melted.
Arrange frozen tater tots on top in a single layer.
Bake 30–35 minutes until tots are golden and filling is bubbling.
Sprinkle remaining cheese on top in final 5 minutes, if desired.
Let cool slightly, garnish, and serve warm.
